Context
When signing up for a LangSmith Plus plan, customers may notice initial charges that differ from the advertised monthly rate. Understanding how the billing works and where to find billing information is important for managing your subscription.
Answer
When you first sign up for a LangSmith Plus plan, you will be charged a prorated amount based on when you start your subscription within the billing cycle. The full monthly charge will begin on the first day of the following month.
Important: The LangSmith Developer plan is free up to 5,000 traces per month. Once you exceed this limit, you'll be charged on a pay-as-you-go basis for additional traces. This can result in unexpected charges if you're not monitoring your usage. For example, generating 250,000 traces in a month could result in charges over $100.
To view your billing details and invoices:
Log into your LangSmith account
Go to Settings
Select "Usage and Billing"
Navigate to the "Invoices" section
Monitor your trace usage in the "Usage" section to avoid unexpected pay-as-you-go charges
For example, if you sign up for the $39/month Plus plan on August 27th, you will initially be charged a prorated amount only for the remaining days of August (August 27-31). The full monthly charge of $39 will then be applied starting September 1st.
